gum print
Using the old technique of gum printing I want to merge the digital with the analogue world of photography. I started the process by painting myself with black paint. I then took pictures of myself with an iPhone 5s (which is a pretty ancient phone nowadays). They are all blurry because I move around with a self-timer in my hand. I become a moving sculpture which unveals its thoughts and feelings. I try to express my true feelings, completely uncovered. That’s the key theme of my work: I cover to uncover to discover. What follows is the labourious technical part of gum printing that takes hours, days and weeks of concentrated diving into. Self-portraits printed on Hahnemühle paper. size: 24x32 cm.
